Orange County, CA is fast becoming the "place to be" among up-and-coming comedians on the west coast. Set off from the LA club scene, venues behind the Orange Curtain are springing up to offer residents an alternative to dinner and a movie. It also offers comedians a whole new audience to entertain.

Last month I talked about Martin Blues in Huntington Beach. This month I'm highlighting a club down the street, Agave. Located at 8082 Adams Ave. (right off Beach Blvd.), Agave opened a room for comedy on Wednesday nights starting June 4. The comedy Booker, Bob Wobbrock, said he's been seeing crowds of 40 to 60 any given night.

For Comedians: You get 8 minutes. Bob wants comedians to feel free to work out new material, or hone their strong stuff. You don't have to bring people or buy anything, just be ready to go up. Each comedian gets a free drink voucher and one for a guest.

For comedy lovers: The room is large with plenty of seating. There is a $5 cover, but no drink minimum and parking is free. Food and drinks are served, but beware; the waitress that was there the night I performed didn't know the difference between an Amaretto Sour and a hot dog. Thank you! I'll be here all week.

For booking info email Bob at bobw@webuniverse.net. He is especially looking for female comics to level out the testosterone among the 10 to 12 comics he books, so ladies, get on it! For directions or club information call 714-698-0480.
