Leana
Benson has been playing out to clubs around the Los Angeles Area
as well as the emerging comedy hub
of Orange
County for more than 4 years, crafting her material and honing
what has been called a one-of-a-kind delivery.
Like most comics, Leana began her stand up career
as a class clown and utilized her quick wit and excellent timing
to win friends and influence people. In high school she starred
in many comedy productions, and won several awards for improv and
speech. Upon graduation she was named "Class Comedian," and
took that to mean she needed to move out to California.
Leana started out studying improvisation comedy
at Idiot Central in early 1999. It was also around that time she
started taking stand up class after class, performing her first
show at the IceHouse in Pasadena and her second at the World Famous
Comedy Store on Sunset in Hollywood. "When you do one of your
first gigs on the main stage of the Comedy Store there is nowhere
to go but down," Leana quipped after leaving the stage that
night.
But that hasn't been the case for Leana
who plays out regularly, and constantly churns events in her
work, home and love life to add to her arsenal of material. She
recently won a spot in Secret's National Sniff Check Comedy Tour,
being one of only five semi-finalists on the West Coast. Check
out the Upcoming Gigs section to see when Leana is performing
next.
